Certification
About IAIDL certification
IAIDL stands for the International AI Driving License™ — a globally recognised framework for measuring and certifying AI competency. An IAIDL certificate proves that you have demonstrated real, applied AI capability against international standards, not just completed a course. Employers, universities, and government bodies in over 80 countries recognise it.
IAIDL Basic certifies foundation-level AI competency — core concepts, terminology, data fundamentals, and responsible AI application. It is the recognised entry point for any AI career. IAIDL Advanced certifies practitioner-level applied competency — applied machine learning, model design, MLOps, deployment, and AI governance. It is designed for professionals who need to evidence that they can operate in real AI environments.
The exam uses AI to adapt in real time to your responses. If you answer correctly, the next question becomes slightly harder; if you struggle, it adjusts to a level where your true ceiling can be measured more precisely. This produces a more accurate and fairer result than a fixed-difficulty multiple-choice paper. The exam is conducted online under proctoring conditions.
Every IAIDL certificate carries a unique QR code. Scanning the QR code takes you to the official IAIDL verification page, which confirms the holder, certificate level, issue date, and validity status — instantly, with no portal login required. You can also visit our Verify page and enter the certificate ID manually.
IAIDL certificates do not expire — they are a permanent record of competency at the time of assessment. IAIDL does recommend regular upskilling given how rapidly the AI field evolves, and additional certifications can be added to your profile over time.
Yes. If you do not pass on your first attempt, you may rebook the examination. Our admissions team will advise on the recommended preparation period and any additional learning support available to help you succeed on your next attempt.
Accreditation & AIMA
Accreditation & AIMA assessment
Certification is for individuals — it is the credential you earn after completing a program and passing the IAIDL exam. Accreditation describes the recognition status of the program or institution itself: IAIDL College is an accredited delivery partner of IAIDL, meaning our programs meet IAIDL's quality standards.
AIMA (International AI Maturity Assessment) is the IAIDL framework for assessing organisations rather than individuals. It places your organisation on a three-level maturity spectrum — Foundational, Operational, or Transformational — and produces a benchmarked report with a prioritised roadmap for advancing to the next level.
AIMA is designed for any organisation that wants to understand its current AI capability, benchmark against industry, and build a credible AI strategy. It is used by enterprises, public sector bodies, NHS trusts, universities, and government departments.
AIMA is conducted through a structured engagement with our assessment team. It typically involves a discovery questionnaire, stakeholder interviews, and review of existing AI initiatives. The output is a formal maturity report and a roadmap — usually completed within 4–6 weeks.
Programs & Learning
Programs and learning
No prior AI knowledge is required for IAIDL Basic. The Foundation-level programs are designed for newcomers — professionals, graduates, or career-switchers. IAIDL Advanced and Practitioner/Professional-level programs assume some technical grounding. Our admissions team will assess your background and recommend the right starting point.
Programs are available online, allowing you to learn at your own pace from anywhere. In-person cohort delivery is also available in certain locations and can be arranged for corporate or partner cohorts. Contact our admissions team to discuss your preferred format.
It depends on the program level and your starting experience. Foundation programs typically take 4–8 weeks part-time. Practitioner and Professional programs range from 8–16 weeks. Our admissions team can advise on the expected commitment per week during your enquiry.
Yes. Programs include structured learning materials, practice assessments, and access to practitioner support. Corporate and partner cohorts can also include dedicated tutor time. You will not be left to learn alone.
